The Land of the Rising Sun - A nickname given to the country Japan - is ranked one of the most highly developed nations in the world. Its GDP, or gross domestic product, is the second highest in the world. The strong Yen (¥) has allowed the Japanese to increase manufactured imports with many countries. Some contributing factors to Japan's healthy economy include their business practices, education, high employment rate, standard of living, political structure, and government regulations. This nation is a recognized leader in technology, automobile manufacturing, and marine foods. Japan is home to 128 million people, making it one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world. The islands of Japan have many dormant and active volcanoes, earthquakes and tremors, tsunamis and typhoons. And yet the Japanese are still able to use their land profitably by using small areas for agriculture and other industries.
